About

Designers in Progress, or DIP as it’s commonly referred to, has been a formally recognized student organization at Chico State since 1979. It’s a club for students interested in graphic design, art, illustration, photography, web design, and related business. We strive to enhance the experience and exposure that design students get from design professionals, providing an opportunity to network with other like-minded people and give them a glimpse at what working in the design field will be like after they graduate.

Throughout the year, DIP brings in design professionals, often Chico alumni, for engaging and informative discussions about their experiences in the design field and life after graduation. In addition, we organize studio tours and trips to Sacramento, Seattle and the surrounding areas (usually one per semester, depending on member interest.) These events and studio tours provide a good opportunity for members to meet Chico alumni, gain an understanding of what it will be like to work in the design field after graduation and build friendships with other design students at Chico State.

DIP maintains a professional atmosphere to prepare you for future contacts with art directors and other design professionals. Leading designers, photographers, and illustrators in the Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, Palo Alto, Seattle, and other major markets recognize DIP, making it a valuable addition to your resume.

The DIP web site has a member/alumni list where our members and alumni can be contacted by e-mail. A growing number of members have on-line portfolios and alumni have links to their businesses.

Join DIP for only $15 for the year or $10 for a semester. With so many benefits, you can’t go wrong. DIP is a local club, so your dues are spent in ways that benefit you, instead of a percentage going to a larger organization.
