A quick announcement — Designers in Progress will be having a meeting this coming Thursday, 3/9, at 7 PM in Tehama 228. I’d like to make this particular meeting a “show and tell” event, so if you can, please bring some sort of creative/design related items you’ve been working on recently. It could be something you’ve done for a design class at Chico State, a ad or page designed for the Orion, a photo you’re proud of, something done for an internship, a personal project, etc. It doesn’t have to be complete or perfect, but it’ll give us the chance to do an extremely informal critique and learn from each other/get inspired. Design is a large field and everyone has different talents, so I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone is working on!
In addition, I wanted to update everyone regarding the Designers in Progress San Francisco trip that’s occurring on the 14th and 15th of this month — less than a week away! I do have two confirmed design studios we will be visiting on the 15th, Chronicle Books (http://www.chroniclebooks.com/) and Ashton & Partners (http://ashtonandpartners.com/). I also hope to have a third studio confirmed for that day as well — I’m still waiting to hear back from them. We can discuss what we might want to do on Monday the 14th at the Thursday meeting. There is a lot of design related stuff we can do in San Francisco, and I thought it might be a good opportunity to visit one or two of these locations:
Museum of Craft & Design: http://www.sfmcd.org/
SF Design Museum: http://www.meandra.org/ (this website was down when I tried to view it, so I’m hoping it’s just a temporary glitch.)
SF Museum of Modern Art: http://www.sfmoma.org/
Also, I’m definitely open to other ideas, so if anyone has any suggestions, especially if you’ve lived down there and know the area better than I do, please let me know.
